There is no single perfect itinerary because honeymoon couples travel differently.

However, these combinations work particularly well.

8-Day Kenya Honeymoon

Day 1: Arrive in Nairobi
Days 2 to 4: Maasai Mara, 3 nights

Should You Do the Safari or Beach First?

For most couples, safari first and beach second is the better order.

Safari days normally begin early.

You may wake before sunrise, spend several hours on game drives and move between camps or parks.

It is exciting, but it can also be physically tiring.

The coast does the opposite.

Finishing your honeymoon in Diani, Lamu or Watamu gives you time to slow down before flying home.

There are exceptions. Flight schedules, wedding dates and hotel availability may sometimes make a beach-first itinerary more practical.

However, when both options are equally convenient, we normally recommend finishing beside the ocean.

When Is the Best Time for a Kenya Safari and Beach Honeymoon?

Kenya can be visited throughout the year, but your ideal dates depend on what matters most to you.

July to October is particularly popular for Maasai Mara safaris because this period can coincide with the Great Migration. Kenya Tourism Board material identifies July to October as the main period for experiencing the migration in the Mara.

January and February can also be excellent for safari and coast combinations, with warm conditions and strong wildlife-viewing opportunities in many regions.

The wetter or greener months can offer beautiful landscapes, fewer visitors in some destinations and seasonal accommodation offers. However, couples should be more flexible with weather.

If witnessing the migration is a major honeymoon goal, book accommodation well in advance, particularly for the Maasai Mara.

How Do You Travel From Safari to Diani Beach?

You do not necessarily need to drive back across Kenya.

Domestic safari flights can make the transition much easier.
