Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

Elephants in Amboseli National Park during a Kenya savannah tour.

Your 6 Days budget African Safari begins with pickup from Nairobi airport, your hotel or residence. After a short briefing by your safari guide, you will drive south towards Amboseli National Park, one of the most loved destinations for Amboseli National Park tours and Kenya wildlife safaris. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. On arrival, you will enter the park and enjoy a short game drive as you head to your lodge or tented camp for lunch. Amboseli is strongly associated with large elephant herds, open plains, swamps and the dramatic view of Mount Kilimanjaro. This makes it one of the best places for a Kenya savannah tour and wildlife photography. In the afternoon, you will continue with another game drive in search of elephants, zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, buffaloes and predators. Dinner and overnight will be at your selected Kenya safari lodge or tented camp Kenya option.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drives in Amboseli National Park

game drives Kenya in Amboseli National Park.

After breakfast, you will spend a full day exploring Amboseli, one of the top Kenya safari destinations for elephants and scenic landscapes. The day can begin early because morning light gives the best chance to see Mount Kilimanjaro clearly and to photograph wildlife before the heat of the day. Your guide will help you search for elephants, lions, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests, waterbucks, giraffes and many bird species. This day is useful for travellers asking what to expect on a Kenya safari, because Amboseli gives a clear introduction to open savannah, wetland areas and predator-prey behaviour. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park, allowing you to spend more time on game drives instead of returning to camp. This safari can be offered as part of budget safaris, mid-range safaris or luxury safaris, depending on accommodation choice. In the evening, you will return to your lodge for dinner, relaxation and overnight stay.

Destination Amboseli National Park
Activities Morning and afternoon game drives
Accommodation Inside or near Amboseli
Meals Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Complementary Drinking water and binoculars on request
Optional Activity Maasai village visit, USD 30 per person

Day 3: Amboseli to Lake Nakuru National Park

After breakfast, you will leave Amboseli and drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park through the Great Rift Valley. The journey is longer, about 5 to 6 hours, but it gives a beautiful view of rural Kenya, escarpments and changing landscapes. Lake Nakuru is one of the most popular stops in many Kenya safari packages because it combines wildlife, birdlife and conservation value in a compact park. Kenya Wildlife Service identifies Lake Nakuru as Kenya’s first rhino sanctuary and an important place for both black and white rhinos. The park is also known for flamingos, pelicans, baboons, buffaloes, Rothschild’s giraffes, waterbucks and sometimes lions or leopards. After check-in and lunch, you will relax shortly before an afternoon game drive. This day is especially good for wildlife conservation Kenya safari content because Lake Nakuru shows how tourism and protected areas can support endangered species. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge or camp.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, you will leave Lake Nakuru and travel towards the famous Masai Mara safari region. The route passes through the Great Rift Valley and rural towns before reaching the open plains of the Mara. This journey normally takes about 5 to 6 hours, depending on road conditions and the location of your camp. On arrival, you will check in and have lunch before starting your first afternoon game drive in Masai Mara. This reserve is a major highlight for many Kenya safari tours, especially for travellers searching for lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hyenas, zebras, antelopes and, with luck, leopards. During July to October, the Mara becomes especially popular because of the Great Migration Kenya safari season, when large herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles move between the Serengeti and Masai Mara in search of pasture. In the evening, you will return to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.

Complementary Drinking water on board
Activity Afternoon game drive

Day 5: Full Day Game Drives in Masai Mara

This is the most exciting full-day wildlife experience of the safari. After breakfast, you will depart with your guide for extended game drives Kenya across the Masai Mara plains. A picnic lunch will be carried so that you can stay inside the reserve for most of the day. The Mara is highly valued because of its rich wildlife population, open grasslands and predator activity. You may see lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, jackals and different antelope species. This day is suitable for clients comparing Safari companies in Kenya, recommended Kenya tour operators, top rated Kenya safari companies and trusted Kenya safari companies, because a good guide can strongly improve the quality of wildlife sightings and interpretation. If travelling during migration season, the guide may focus on river areas and open plains where herds are more active. Optional activities include a Maasai village visit or hot air balloon safari Kenya, which gives a luxury view of the Mara landscape.

Day 6: Masai Mara to Nairobi

Your final day begins early with a short morning game drive, giving you one last chance to enjoy the Masai Mara before returning to Nairobi. Early morning is a good time for wildlife viewing because animals are more active before the day becomes hot. You may see lions returning from hunting, elephants moving across the plains, hyenas calling, giraffes feeding and antelopes grazing in the soft morning light. After the game drive, you will return to the camp or lodge for breakfast, then check out and begin the journey back to Nairobi. Lunch will be taken on the way, often around Narok or another suitable stop. On arrival in Nairobi, you will be dropped at your hotel, residence or airport. This marks the end of your African safari holidays Kenya experience. For travellers planning a safari to Kenya, this itinerary can also be extended with Nairobi National Park tours, Tsavo safaris, Mount Kenya trekking tours or a Kenya beach holidays combine safari package.
