Day 1: Nairobi to Laikipia Wilderness

Your safari begins in Nairobi, where our NAMSA Safari Director will warmly receive you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, or at your Nairobi Hotel. After a meet, greet and safari briefing, you will depart Nairobi and begin your journey towards Ewaso Enclave Conservancy in Laikipia Wilderness.

Laikipia is one of Kenya’s most exciting safari regions because it offers a different kind of wilderness experience. The landscape is beautiful, open and rich in wildlife, with a strong focus on conservation and rare species. This is one of the best areas in Kenya to search for the Special Five, which include Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx.

You will arrive in time for lunch at Sidai Camp. After check-in, you will enjoy lunch and have time to relax before the afternoon game drive. Later, our professional safari guide will take you out into the conservancy for your first game drive in this unique ecosystem.

During the drive, you will stay on the lookout for Special Five species and other wildlife such as lions, leopards, striped hyenas, lesser kudu, vulturine guineafowl and plains game. The conservancy offers a calm and rewarding safari experience, especially for travellers who enjoy rare species and quiet wilderness.

In the evening, you will return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Laikipia Wilderness Special Five and Rare Wildlife Tracking

After breakfast, you will begin a full day of wildlife exploration in Laikipia Wilderness. This day focuses on the Special Five and rare wildlife tracking, giving you a deeper safari experience away from the more common tourist routes.

Our professional safari guide will help you search for Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx. These northern species make Laikipia a special safari destination because they are not commonly seen in many southern parks.

You will also spend time tracking rare and elusive wildlife such as the black leopard and African wild dogs. These animals are not easy to find, and sightings depend on wildlife movement, patience, timing and local tracking information. This makes the experience even more exciting because every track, sound and sign can become part of the story.

Laikipia is also known for endangered and less common species such as striped hyenas and lesser kudu. You may also see lions, leopards, elephants, antelopes and many bird species as you explore the conservancy.

In the evening, you will enjoy a night game drive. This is a special experience because the wilderness changes after sunset. Nocturnal animals become more active, and you may see species that are rarely seen during daytime game drives.

Dinner and overnight will be at Sidai Camp.

Our team will guide the day carefully, based on available local information and the natural movement of wildlife.

You will continue searching for the Special Five, including Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and Beisa oryx. You may also see big cats, hyenas, plains game and many bird species. The beauty of Laikipia is that every drive feels different, with open landscapes, quiet tracks and wildlife that moves freely through the conservancy.
